Comments By Honarable Prime Minister & other
VVIP’s on their visit to Dahanu.
Hon'ble Prime Minister's comment in letter addressed
to CMD
"In your Organization, we note that Dahanu project
has been performing well. You may kindly convey the government's
appreciation to the personnel working in this plant, as well as to all
other officers and the staff of the organization who either directly or
indirectly has made it possible to achieve this. It is hoped that the
tempo of the growth in generation will be maintained in the coming months
of the year, so that the annual targets may be fully attained." Shri.
I.K.Gujral, 1996.
Excerpt from the aide memoir of ICR Missions (World
Bank) visit to Dahanu plant on 03.12.96 Para-14
-
"The
mission was impressed by the generating station at Dahanu for its
overall cleanliness, excellent upkeep, effective management and the
dedication of a highly motivated staff to make it a show-piece of
power plant"
-
Most
notably, Reliance Energy Ltd. has established Mangroves (several
million seedling) of two local species alongwith creeks surrounding
the power station. Some of the new Mangrove communities are now two
meters in height. There are no other Mangrove communities in existence
in DAHANU creek area, and Reliance Energy Ltd. should be commended for
this effort which will have a definite positive impact on the aquatic
ecology. The Mission encourages Reliance Energy Ltd. to continue the
Mangrove establishment effort surrounding the ash disposal area.
-
Several
SOx sensitive species were established on the plant site to act as
bio-monitors of ambient air. The impact of SOx on Chicku was studied
using internationally developed fumigation chamber techniques; the
impact of ash deposition was also studied. The investigation revealed
that Chicku is among the most resistant of the species to the effects
of SOx and ash deposition. Tests were conducted of SOx concentration
over three order of magnitude above ambient SOx concentration.
Shri. Gopinath Munde, Ex-Deputy Chief Minister,
Maharashtra state
"Project is being run on rated capacity. All
possible measures have been taken so as to prevent any adverse effect on
environment. Modern technology has been drawn for improving distribution,
which is appreciable. PLF is excellent. I wish my best to Reliance Energy
Ltd. for success in future"
Mr. Dick Goldman, USAID letter dtd. 03/03/98
"I still recall fondly our short but educational
trip to Dahanu and the wonderful hospitability of all the Reliance Energy
Ltd. staff. The performance, environmental interest and housekeeping of
the facility is certainly an example to all plant operators in India and
demonstrates that an international standard is obtainable."
Comment of Dr. A. Mehrotra, Joint Director, Ministry
of Environment & Forest, Government of
India during his visit to DTPS.
"After visiting the power plant I could remember
my visit to Lognett power plant of North England. Management is very
sincere in implementing environmental safeguards. I wish best of luck to
all."
