Electronic Clearing Service Benefits of payment through ECS No worries about missing a payment date Hassle-free procedures  Flexibility of fixing an upper limit No need for a separate bank account  Discount of 0.5% or Rs. 250 on bill amount, whichever is lower In our continued effort to provide better services to our esteemed consumers, we are introducing the Electronic Clearing Service ( ECS ) for the payment of our electricity bills. Briefly , the system will operate as follows : Electronic method of payment has been introduced by the Reserve Bank of India which provides you an option to pay your electricity bills directly through your bank account. Your bank account would be debited through the new payment mechanism shortly after the due date. Payment instructions would be issued by us electronically through our banker to the Clearing Authority and the Clearing Authority would supply debit reports to the bank with which you maintain the specified bank account. The branch will debit your account and indicate the debit entry as "ECS" in your pass book / statement of account. You do not have to open any new bank account for the purpose. You have the option to indicate the upper limit for your mandate. If in any month your electricity bill amount exceeds the mandate, the bill amount will not be debited to your bank account. In such cases, a message will be printed on our bill and you will have to pay that bill in the normal manner at our collection center. In addition , you will have the option to stop payment of the bill up to the "due date" mentioned on the bill. Consumers opting for ECS payment facility are eligible for 0.5% discount on bill payable subject to maximum of Rs. 250/- per bill, if payment made through ECS. Discount on ECS will be reflected in the subsequent month’s bill after successful ECS operations. There is no maximum amount per transaction. Incase tariff provides for Prompt Payment Incentive, consumers can avail 1% additional by opting for this scheme. Under this scheme, deduction of monthly bill amount by ECS will take place 7 days from the date of the bill. This discount will be reflected in the subsequent month’s bill after ECS operations. This would be an additional mode of payment and would be optional. You will continue to receive our bill in the usual manner. You would have the right to withdraw from this mode of payment by giving an advance notice of four weeks. If agreeable to participate in this new payment mechanism, you are requested to fill in a Mandate Form . The information to be supplied should be accurate , complete in all respects and duly certified by your bank.You are requested to submit the one copy of duly filled in mandate form to your bank for their record. The information provided by you will be kept confidential and would be utilized only for the purpose of effecting payments of electricity bills. Mandate forms are available and accepted Customer Care Centres at respective Divisional Offices.
