  10. The procedure is as follows:
    1. A Requisition Form (16.1) is available at any of the Divisional Offices free of cost, is to be filled up by the prospective consumer. The form requires details such as the name and address of the premises where the supply is required, the actual load requirement, nearest street light pole number etc.

    2. On submission of the Application Form (duly filled) to the respective Divisional office, a requisition number is given to the applicant. (Each requisition is registered under a serial number of the particular area it comes under.) Status of the application can be obtained on-line, from our website or by contacting the respective Divisional office.

    3. The Area Engineer conducts a site survey and prepares feasibility reports and estimates for release of the electric supply. The Estimate is then sent to the applicant (indicating the charges to be paid for Installation, Security Deposit and the Connection fee.) The Estimates usually fall into 2 categories:

      1. Tapping Estimates: If there is an existing service cable in the area and only a meter is to be fixed in the existing meter cupboard for release of supply, a tapping estimate is prepared.

      2. Service Cable Estimates: If there is no existing cable in the premises and a new service cable has to be laid to release supply, a Service Cable estimate is prepared.

    4. When a service cable estimate is given to the applicant, in addition to the payment of the estimated charges, he has to submit a standard "Way Leave Form", in which he has to take the consent of the owners of the land and the structure through which the cable will be routed to his premises.

    5. Any requisition wherein the load required is more than 25 Killo Watts is referred to the Load Remark/ Planning Department for clearance. Planning Dept checks the load on the existing distribution cables for possible margins and issues the clearance accordingly.

    6. In case of a requisition for supply to premises alongside a public road, where there is no existing distribution system a new distributor is proposed, which is known as DIS (Distribution mains for Improvement of supply). And an estimate, for the laying service cables from the applicant's premises up to the proposed distributor is prepared and sent to the applicant.

    7. Further, where the existing Distributors are loaded, or the applicant's load demand is high and cannot be met from the existing distribution, a substation has to be commissioned and the applicant is also requested to handover plot for substation in his premises.

    8. Once the applicant fulfils all the requirements as specified in the estimate his requisition file is referred to the Service Department for execution. After the job is completed, the applicant has to get the wiring from his premises to the service position done and submit an Installation Test Report from his Licensed Electrical Contractor. The file is then sent to I & C Department (Installation & Consumers) with this report for meter installation.

    9. In case of industrial load applications, similar procedures are followed. However, in Motive Power load cases, the applicant has to submit a valid NOC from appropriate authorities (such as MCGM, Director of Industries etc) for the load applied. If his Industrial activity does not fall under the service industry category, he has to also obtain a separate NOC from the Pollution Control Board.

Normally, for motive power load cases, if the applicant's demand exceeds 85 kWs he is quoted HT terms ie, the supply is made available to him at 11000 Volts.
